3x2 Redoux

Hello Friends

I had the extreme pleasure and terror of creating a piece for the 3x2 project. It  is a collaboration of  metalsmiths and a glass bead artists to create a piece inspired by each others work.

 It is called 3x2 as each team creates 3 pieces of the same design. It began in November of last year when we all were paired up by names drawn out of a hat.

 I have had the delightful pleasure of working with the talented glass artist Leslie Goldstein from Olympia.

 These pieces will be on display for a very short time at Facere In Downtown Seattle. Our piece is the last piece on the bottom right.

   April 16- Opening and lecture at Facere -  4pm, and the Reception from 5-6:30PM   

   May 10  - The Show will be packed and mailed to England.

         - Fisherton Mill - Salisbury, England 

        Then on to

 Contemporary Craft Museum, Portland, Oregon

Getting ready for FaerieConWest

Onward and forward. I have been working on many different projects getting ready for my visit to FaerieConWest Feb 21 thru 23,2014. If you are in Seattle Stop by for a time you will never forget.  As you may or may not know I and a shaman and have been working in spiritual or "whoo-whoo" arenas for 37 years, I have been blessed with many wonderful teachers and learned so many things that help me do the  work this life has for me. I an a healer,teacher,artist and guide for those who have passed over as well as for those who are working out their own life's stories and mysteries.
 One area of which i have been abundantly been blessed in is seining and communicating with the Fae. It has taken me a long time to understand that not every could see what I see. That the world is filled with magic of the most simple everyday delights that we simply take for granted.
I met my husband when in a class of metaphysical nature and together we created a sanctuary and place of healing and ceremony. We have held,attended and led many many ceremonies and rituals, celebrating our journey in life,death and more.  This place I call Misty Valley  is home for many of the Fae and I have be blessed with the pleasure of not only seeing them but channeling their wisdom and knowledge.

For many years I keep this hidden and tried to ignore it and you can see how well that has worked. So in my own wisdom I have decided to embrace it fully and just enjoy the ride. Following my own muses and presenting it to the world. I have created some( if I do say so myself) delightful items that you use to play with the faeries.
 Here is  the description of

Faerie Dust


It started with 99 roses from the Misty Valley.. Each rose was Crystallized and blessed by Gwen and I beginning last summer. The roses were dried and packed away waiting. Other ingredients were stock piled as the faeries whispered in my ear along with the message of patience.

The best things take time to create. No hurry, no worry, all will come together at the right moment.

Created as an offering to gift back to the Fae, redolent with the fragrances of sun, rain and cozy snow mornings memories, It is created from all the joy and laughter, tears and healing all packed into a year.

At last the fairies returned to inform me the time was NOW!! The timing was just right.  Everything was gathered and ready to mix and blend.

It starts with 99 roses.
Each ingredient hand gathered, blessed with laughter, carefully preserved while waiting to be assembled.

Hand blended ready to sprinkle where faeries gather or offered in a small dish on your faerie altar.

This blend is my way of saying Thank you for making me aware of the magic of life of everyday.

For noticing tiny miracles** as this is the life work of the Fae kingdom a new blossom, bird song, a wee giggle, cloud pictures and more. For all these are the all gifts...special reminders from the faeries.

Live and enjoy the little moments now. Celebrate the child waiting to just play inside your heart.

Each Faerie Dust bottle contains all natural ingredients ,sparkling bits and  4 tiny gemstones.
Turquoise+++ for the direction of east and the element of air.
Smoky Quartz ++++for the direction of south and the element of fire
Red coral ++++for the direction of west and the element of water
Peridot++++ for the direction of north and the element of earth.

 Like all of us the fae love to be acknowledged and appreciate little gifts or offerings.
Getting a glimpse of the faerie kingdom is indeed a blessing and when you take the time each day  to stop and be in the present moment,

The Fae  will help open your eyes to the tiny miracles of everyday life.

As you experience this magical wonder you can use your Faerie Dust to thank them.

July Full Moon #7

The Chakras.

I just can't stop thinking about the Chakras. 

The rainbow colors. The symbols. 

Cleaning & Clearing them.          

 Base. 

Sacral. 

Solar Plexus. 

Heart. 

Throat. 

Third Eye. 

Crown.

When I first looked at the 2 spaces for July, tall skinny bits they are, I planned to make a pile of Faeries. But... I couldn't get the Chakras out of my mind. So, I didn't fight the flow or the inspiration, I jumped in to work with the Chakras.  Wanting to learn the sanskrit symbols and understand why the chakras are made with 2, then 4, then many more petals, surrounding, then start all over again with 2 petals around the third eye chakra.  It seems so... so... disjointed. I figured there must be a reason.  

I looked up the symbols in all my books and checked out things online, like About.com.  I practiced the symbols by looking at them and trying my hand. Oh boy. That was WAY harder than it looked. Many of those brush or pen strokes are so foreign to my hand that they looked wobbly and weird, not like the symbol I was attempting. Argh. What to do? Time was running out fast. 

Just as my last few hours of time left before the moon deadline were quickly sprinting away, I grabbed my shrinky-dinks and my double-decker box of practically every color sharpie in the world. I cut 2 pcs of shrink plastic out in the exact dimension of the 2 spaces, pre-shrink. That meant I would not shrink them. I had no idea what I would create, how each chakra would look, if they'd have the right number of petals or other such stuff, etc. I just drew. What I ended up with is what you see immediately below on the right with my rainbow of sharpies. I loved it. I was thrilled. It was my original art (no copying, no iterations, all me) and it was the chakras. Aaaaaaaaaaand, then I tried to fit them into the 2 spots. Crap-a-doodle! They were 1" too long. Gee maybe I should measure twice before I let the muse take over. But, failed attempt resulted in an even better Chakra end result.

Since that didn't work and I was already behind, I indulged my muse in the circles.  See, I've listened to several meditations that talk of the chakras as spinning spheres or discs. Why not make these into circles?  Why not find a way to make them spin. They don't quite free-spin the way I visualized, but the end result of 2 different sized circles spinning for the Chakras is pretty freakin awesome!  And when they shrank, oh wow. So wee & tiny!  The image above on the left is "Before" shrinking.  The images below are the full 7 Chakras "After" shrinking.  My guess is that Lou needs to learn about and play with the Chakras as much as me. So, my dear Lou here is my suggested visualization/meditation.

Gwennie's Chakra Clearing: 

Recommended when you're feeling blocked, down, bombarded, disconnected / unable to ground, etc. Remember, you can do this for each, a few, or all chakras.  There are no hard & fast rules.  I recommend that you look up what each Chakra means/represents and take that into consideration when you are looking to do some clearing/cleaning.

To set your chakras back right & spinning...
If this is your first time, I recommend you start with the Root/Base Chakra in Red and work your way up to your Crown in Purple. Do that several times - say once a day or so until you get the hang of it or start to feel good.  Then introduce this practice whenever you are called / guided to do so.

1. Take stock of how your chakras feel.  Are they muddy? Broken? Black? Dull? Hard? Not spinning? Flat? Do they not feel "right" or not feel like they are functioning at "your body's normal" to you? 
2. Visualize a white light (gentle, strong, beautiful, bubbly - what ever feels right to you) being sent to that chakra/area of the body.  Allow the light to clear out the area like scrubbing bubbles, crystal clear mountain spring water, or like the fresh air after a spring rain does for your scent sense.
3. Visualize the chakra returning to it's brilliant color - Red if base, Purple if Crown, etc. If your Chakras show you that they spin, then imagine them spinning like a top.  If they glow, then fuel that light with more so that it is positively blindingly brilliant. 
4. Move on to each Chakra until you feel you are done.

June Mead Moon 

A Super moon  with plenty of hype but alas my friends what it brought to the Pacific NW was jaw dropping rain squalls. Saturday was glorious Sunny  Hot and the bees were buzzing and the hummingbirds humming.(cause they forgot the words don'tcha know). I was busy drying rose petals and lavender ans anything else from the garden thank agreed to become part of my blessing jar.

 I even went to the local nursery to find a princess vine and was feeling a bit whooshy strolling along. But I bought my plant returned to my car and saw the temp gauge, my car registered 105 and when I got home the gauge registered 95. So excited couldn't wait to see the moon,should be great clear sky...... move ahead to 8 pm Cloud cover and humid, decided to place all my flowers into the back of my car for safekeeping over night in case the nocturnal critters  decided to have their own Summer Solstice celebration.

 As luck would have it  it was the clouds who decided to party and left evidence of large puddles behind to let me know a good time was had by all those of the cloud people.

 Sunday remained a bit dim  ( I think the cloud people had hangovers) and as it was getting dark the surprising downpours started again.  So I have been dreaming about what a cool moon it  must have been as I fluff the drying flower petals in the back of my car.

It is my pleasure to upload everyone's delight little altar projects for the month of JUNE.

May FULL MOON # 10

Here I am once again late - :( - sad face, best laid plans that go a stray. My little piece of art goes to Gwen and it is being posted today.

My inspiration for May was the little piece of enamel work I did with my sister in law Terri. The piece always reminded me of the Full Moon shining on the beach. Going through my 'po' I found these little turtles. I then thought of a novel I read years ago set in S Carolina and related as part of the story about the turtles that come ashore at night to lay their eggs. So I Googled Carolina and turtles. Sure enough there was the story about Logger Head Sea Turtle that lives its life in the ocean, only to come a shore at night to lay their eggs. These turtles will lay eggs at 2-3 year intervals and 3-4 clutches may be laid in one season at 12 week intervals.  Clutch size will average around 115 eggs.

SEED MOON #3

Hi Peg, here's a little picture I made for the April 'Little Alters' project. This one is going to Kimberly.

When I received the sweet packet you sent recently with the seeds enclosed I was instantly inspired. You mentioned that this month's moon is known by two names: the Pink Moon and the Seed Moon.

I then thought I'd make a picture of a newly planted seed as it progressed from germination to full bloom. Love, Lou

Well what do you know it's The Snow Moon

Hello hello hello all you moon girls.
 The Full Moon for February was this past Monday February 25,2013.
 In my little corner of the world it was a clear night brisk and breezy and not a snow flake in sight. I have just returned from the Faerie Realm and an intense month in my studio creating faerie tale costuming delights. I will post photos after this extravaganza of the first exchange for our Little Altars Project.
 Going to start with Miss Lou who is having so much fun she is always early to finish her project. I just love her enthusiastic joy

 My inspiration for this "little alter" for February is Valentine's Day. Love is in my heart always, and Valentines' Day is a perfect way to express it! love you
