October Full Moon #6

My inspiration for Oct was the Beach - again - have I mentioned I love the beach? This project was an easy one because it was for myself. I decided to take my Beach Mosaic a little farther and add footprints in the sand. I went to my studio and found my boxes of small beach stones. I have lots and lots of beach stones, but nothing small enough to make footprints that would fit the space! I started playing around with the stones at random and I there was that little turtle again!  So Happily I added her to my space and she is swimming towards the beach.  What is next you ask? Road trip! To the Beach for more smaller beach stones and a few agates too. Any excuse to go to the beach.

September Full Moon #7

I had a great time this month designing and stitching my project. I chose sunflowers because it is the flower that
signifies Fall to me.  And sunflowers come in such a variety of colors!

I stitched Spider Webs  because they are a motif that is included on most Victorian Crazy Quilts.  Spiders and spider
webs are also plentiful in the Fall garden. I love gardening and stitching Crazy Quilt Blocks, so this was a natural theme
for this Little Alters project. I really enjoyed stitching while watching TV BUT my cats didn't like it all, my lap was not
available for cat naps. LOL!

I am excited to get this small 'field of Sunflowers' posted to Kathy today!

JUNE FULL MOON #2

Hi Peg -
Here in sunny HOT Tucson AGAIN!
Moving Mary to Assisted Living next Wed then home for our

4th of July Family Reunion in Oregon.

My inspiration for this month's project was Beth herself. I always think of flowers when i think of Beth.
I made a basket of flowers for her with copper and wire!

Hugs to all! Lynn

May FULL MOON # 10

Here I am once again late - :( - sad face, best laid plans that go a stray. My little piece of art goes to Gwen and it is being posted today.

My inspiration for May was the little piece of enamel work I did with my sister in law Terri. The piece always reminded me of the Full Moon shining on the beach. Going through my 'po' I found these little turtles. I then thought of a novel I read years ago set in S Carolina and related as part of the story about the turtles that come ashore at night to lay their eggs. So I Googled Carolina and turtles. Sure enough there was the story about Logger Head Sea Turtle that lives its life in the ocean, only to come a shore at night to lay their eggs. These turtles will lay eggs at 2-3 year intervals and 3-4 clutches may be laid in one season at 12 week intervals.  Clutch size will average around 115 eggs.

Seed Moon #9

This moon cycle was a difficult period for many. Spring  and Winter battling it out in the weather scene. Then POW Summer shows up and the temps soared and my garden went into hyperdrive. You really needed to keep almost an hourly watch to see the delicate blossoms emerge. If you didn't  the 89 degree weather caused them to unfurl bloom then shrivel up and drop. At one point it looked like it was snowing in full sunshine. The dogwood flowers and the cottonwood fell gently from the sky. Achoooooooo

Any way here are photos from Lynn Hranac for my printer's box   A sweet needle felted piece of sun flowers and spring.
All created while caring for several of the many people in Lynn's life who required extra attention the last 2 moon cycles.
Enjoy

Peek a boo! Ready or not it's time to garden!!!

SEED MOON #7

Inspired by Lynn Hranach’s comment last month about gardens and weeds, I love to watch as my gardens went from scraggly to full blown lushness.

Each morning as I open the curtains I watched the garden burst into spring, as my friend Beth Drobny (the master gardener and owner of the “Dirty Hoe”) says with a naughty chuckle “some of those plants shoot up thru the dirt like men parts quivering with anticipation!!!” ((reworded for public use.hee heee hee))

The spot for this month was small and I wanted just the right thing to fit.

I have been itching to weave wire and after a few attempts to get the warp and weft balanced I created a wee basket/bird nest of copper wire.
I added small chips of amethyst as a ledge as well as for color and the stones legends say it adds serenity and calmness to a person wearing it. It also is supposed to prevent drunkenness. (I will check with Lynn Later about that one)

I then added glass leaves, pink pearls and a art glass bead from Unicorn beads which I used as the egg for the nest. I choose that bead because of  the possibilities I could see while gazing into the surface of the egg.

That is my wish for the piece to be full of hope and endless possibilities for
 Lynn Hranach this year.

  Cheers Peg

Snow Moon 6

I have always LOVED Faeries……….. Since I was child I believed in their existence! They were my playmates and friends!
Faeries have been on my brain, in my dreams and my days! For the very first time I attended FaerieCon West at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel in downtown Seattle! Faeries and Elves and Mermaids OH MY!!!!!! What a grand time we had.
I have chosen to highlight one of Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Faeries for this month’s Little Alter. Cicely Mary Barker was born in Croydon, South London in 1895 and died in 1973.  Her Faeries were first published in 1923, which brought her international acclaim as an artist.
I love the little Faerie highlighted in a shadow box setting. It soon will be spring and Cicely Barker’s Flower Faeries always make me think of this time of year while I plan for my garden that the Faeries will love the new plantings.
Open your eyes and hearts to find a Faerie or two of your own, they make great friends!!!
